The Impactful Work of the Mark Foundation in Supporting Recovery Communities

Aired August 2nd 2026

The Mark Foundation, based in the Hudson Valley, is a non-profit organization committed to supporting individuals transitioning from rehabilitation to recovery. Alicia Gannon, an instrumental figure at the Mark Foundation, highlights the foundation's various initiatives that provide substantial assistance to individuals battling substance abuse.

Supporting the Recovery Community

The organization focuses on offering crucial services such as stable, sober-supported housing and scholarship opportunities for those aiming to become addiction counselors. As Alicia Gannon explains, "The Mark Foundation is dedicated to helping individuals streamline back into the community without the use of drugs and alcohol."

Housing and Scholarships: A Pathway to Recovery

One of the foundation's keystones is its provision of supportive housing, including facilities like Florence Manor, Bulger House, and Dowling House. The foundation ensures that individuals leaving treatment have a safe environment to help prevent relapses. Furthermore, they have launched the Jane Shulkin Scholarship, providing financial assistance to those aspiring to work in addiction recovery. This program is conducted in partnership with Dutchess Community College, with Gannon emphasizing the foundation's role in "changing the trajectory of people's lives."

Upcoming Events: Join and Support

The Mark Foundation also hosts various events to garner community support and raise funds for its programs. Among these is the annual Tom Gannon and Cliff Andrews Day of Golf, to be held on August 21, 2026, at the Beekman Golf Course. Participants are invited for a day of golf and banquet, contributing directly to the foundation's impactful work. Further details and registration opportunities can be found on marcfoundation.org.

Additionally, on September 22, 2026, the foundation will host a dinner at The Grand View, featuring keynote speaker Darryl Strawberry, who will share his recovery journey, offering hope and inspiration to many.
