Compassionate Care: Transforming Lives in Dutchess and Ulster Counties

Aired June 16th 2024

Susan Sullivan-Bachellier, an active Rotarian and advocate for hospice care, shared insightful details about the compassionate services provided by Hudson Valley Hospice. Located in a serene, 16,000 square foot facility in Hyde Park, the hospice offers a peaceful retreat for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses. This facility, nestled on seven wooded acres, includes 14 home-like suites, each designed to provide a comforting environment with private bathrooms, individual room temperature controls, and direct access to a meditative garden.

Susan emphasized that hospice care extends beyond those nearing the end of life, explaining, "We've had many patients that are there on and off for years, depending on their situation." She highlighted the inclusive nature of the services, noting, "Yes, we do offer pediatric services," ensuring comprehensive care for patients of all ages.

The hospice not only provides clinical care but also supports patients and their families with spiritual care, bereavement services, and respite care, affirming, "It's very much geared towards not only the individual but also their family." This holistic approach underlines the hospice's commitment to dignity and compassion, embodying the essence of community support at a crucial time in patients' lives.
